2.  Sony Tablet S (32GB)

Sony Tablet S (32GB)Sony took its time with Tablet S, and it shows. The industrial design is smart, and the software refinements are both practical and restrained.

Features

Take as granted that you get Google's full Android 3.1 experience. Everything from Gmail to Google Talk (with video chat) comes ready to go right out of the box. On top of that you get access to Sony's Video Unlimited service. Ironically, video selection is very limited at launch, but plans are in place to offer video download and rental options from all the major studios. You get a six-month free basic membership to Sony's Music Unlimited service (a revamped version of Sony's Qriocity). Sony's own Reader software is included, alongside Google Books. And last but not least, both of Sony's tablets are PlayStation-certified, and run emulator software allowing them to play select PS One and PSP game titles. The original PS One hit Crash Bandicoot comes preinstalled, along with a version of Pinball Heroes

3.  Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB)Sleek, sexy, and light, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 gets as close to the iPad 2 as any Android tablet before it.  As thin as the iPad 2 and even lighter, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the sexiest Honeycomb tablet we've seen. Also, it has a 3-megapixel back camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, and powerful dual speakers.

Price: $499.00 - $499.99.  3.5 star.  Very good.  Read full review

4.  Asus Eee Pad Transformer (16GB, Wi-Fi)

Asus Eee Pad Transformer (16GB, Wi-Fi)The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a low-price, quality Honeycomb tablet with useful options.  The usual suspects of tablet features are available with the Transformer, including Bluetooth 2.1 for audio and peripheral support. The Wi-Fi antenna supports bands up to 802.11n. Embedded sensors for screen brightness, accelerometer, and gyroscope are all included.
With no cellular option, the Transformer is a Wi-Fi-only tablet. A 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processor and 16GB of storage round out the specs.

Price: $389.88 - $409.95. 3.5 stars. Very good . Read full review

5.  BlackBerry PlayBook (16GB)

BlackBerry PlayBook (16GB)The BlackBerry PlayBook ably showcases RIM's powerful new mobile operating system, but its middling size diminishes many of its best features.  The BlackBerry PlayBook is probably the smallest high-profile tablet to come out in 2011. Measuring 5 inches tall, 7.5 inches wide, and a slim 0.4 inch thick, the PlayBook's design has more in common with the Galaxy Tab of 2010 than the 10-inch tablets making headlines this year. To RIM's credit, the PlayBook is the most powerful 7-inch tablet we've tested, and the lightweight design comes in under a pound.

Price: $479.88 - $512.72.  3.5 stars.  Very goodRead full review
